Illustrator Applications

Voiceworks is looking for illustrators!

Our autumn 2018 issue #111, ‘Riff’, is going to be bit different and a bit special. In lieu of our usual art submissions, we’re on the hunt for artists to illustrate the issue. Those selected among the bunch will be paired up with writers to visually interpret their work. The result: a collection of collaborative narratives told through words and pictures. We expect it will be eye-meltingly beautiful.

About Voiceworks

Voiceworks is a national, quarterly literary journal, featuring new fiction, nonfiction, poetry, art and comics by people under the age of 25. The best way to get a sense of who we are is to read Voiceworks! You can get yourself a copy by ordering it onlinesubscribing or waltzing into one of these fine retailers.

What we’re looking for

We are open to artwork in a variety of styles, but it’s worth thinking about whether your particular one would be suited to our pages. We print in two spot colours (duotone) and so accept files in black-and-white (greyscale) rather than full colour. Have a flip through one of our back issues to get a feel for what works best.

The most important thing is that you’re excited by narratives and eager to visually interpret them.

Rules help control the fun

—We are only able to publish artists who are under the age of 25 (that is, 24 and under) at the time of submission.

—We only accept applications by people living in Australia (including international students) or by Australians living overseas.

Applications close Sunday 28 January 2018, 11:59pm.
