Voiceworks is a national quarterly magazine that features exciting new writing and art by young Australians. It is a unique opportunity for people under twenty-five to publish their poetry, short stories, articles, comics, illustrations, drawings and photos. Each selected piece goes through a collaborative editing process, and individualised feedback is provided for all unsuccessful submissions.
The magazine is put together by the editor, together with a group of interns and a volunteer editorial committee (EdComm), all of whom are also under twenty-five. EdComm assists the editor in reading submissions, editing content, proofreading, running launches and writing feedback for all our contributors. It is only through this dedicated support of talented volunteers that we are able to produce such a high-quality publication. Voiceworks both supports young writers’ development of literacy skills and celebrates their work as literary in its own right.
Voiceworks relies entirely on contributions from young Australians. We do not censor the work that we receive unless it contains racist, sexist or homophobic material. We seek to empower young writers and readers as equal creators and participants within the larger arts community. Our goal is to allow young Australians to represent themselves through quality literary and artistic production.
Voiceworks is published by Express Media, a not-for-profit organisation that provides support and development opportunities for young people in writing and media. You can find out more about other Express Media programs at expressmedia.org.au.
