Poetry and its Neighbours: Voiceworks at EWF

Join Voiceworks editors Saanjana Kapoor and Eve Tramacchi O’Keeffe for a two-part workshop at the Melbourne Art Library

We tend to silo poetry off from other forms, and poets from the world in which they live. But what about poetic prose, or polemical poetry: forms that are, in George Oppen’s phrase, ‘members of each other’ – like people?

Part one (Saanjana) will encourage participants to consider poetry as a dialogue between the public and private imagination – the poet’s inner landscape, and the social and political worlds that shape it.

Part two (Eve) will encourage participants to write fiction that draws directly from their own poetry practice – introducing new elements of hybridity and playfulness into their writing, beyond the constraints of form and genre.

Workshopped pieces will go on to form a chapbook, distributed to the workshop participants.

Please note, you will need to answer a few questions to complete your registration.
